Molds
I was playing around making life casting materials and making lots of latex molds when I decided to try making some mini pot molds. It worked pretty well.
I started by sculpting tiny pots and vases from Plasticine, then I covered them with a thin layer of liquid latex and then, once that was dry another layer with latex thickener added to it.

Once the molds had dried I made small holes in some cardboard and stuck the molds through them.
First I made some sets of molds using normal plaster of Paris. The detail is brought out pretty well and they look pristine and white but they were also too delicate and breakable for my purposes.
After some searching I found the perfect plaster. It is terra-cotta and contains iron powder. This makes lovely heavy terra-cotta pots with the added bonus that the iron rusts and makes beautiful patterns on the pieces as you can see below. I am continuing to experiment with molds and plasters and will be stocking up my little shop with the pieces as I go.
